Biblically, waiting is not just something we have to do until we get what we want. Waiting is part of the process of becoming what God wants us to be. ~John Ortberg

A Response To "Why Do People Reject Truth?"

A friend of mine, Doug Cloud, sent me this email in response to my blog post, "Why Do People Reject Truth?"(That post is below this post)...

I was having this exact same discussion with someone a few weeks ago and suddenly I was in Holy Spirit mode - talking without consciously planning what I was saying.

It went something like this....

-------------------------

Ask yourself this - why do people get funny when you mention Jesus? This is actually a revelation in itself if people would just consider what it means. You can talk to just about anyone about God and they don't have a problem with Him. But as soon as you mention Jesus they get all funny.

Why?

Because believing in God isn't required to get into heaven - believing in Jesus is. Remember this. This is the revelation. The secret. If people would simply stop and think, 'Now I am talking about God and I don't have a problem with that, but why did I balk when he mentioned Jesus?'

Simple. Because believing in God isn't required to get into heaven - believing in Jesus is.

This even proves the devil is real, because the devil doesn't care if you believe in God. Believing in God doesn't get you into heaven, believing in Jesus does. But as soon as you mention Jesus he makes sure people get all stiff-necked and stubborn.

With me so far?

(at this point the woman I was speaking to gasped and shouted "Oh my God! I get it! I get it!")

It is so simple it's almost funny. Now think about this....if belief in God were required to get into heaven then it would be the other way around. People wouldn't care if you talked about Jesus, but as soon as you mentioned God they would have a problem.

If people would just stop for a moment and consider this they might just get a clue.

I'm Jewish..What does the truth say about me and the path I must take to go to heaven...what's the truth?
The Crusades were full of those that died for the truth ...their truth. Jews died as a result of that truth...How does everyone measure up the their truth....and their religions truth....Did Yesua rebulid the temple yet...Where is Elijah? What is the truth?

Hi Anonymous. I'm glad you responded. Truth is the Word of God. And the entire word of God is the Bible. Over the centuries there has been so much killing and atrocities done in the name of God, especially to the Jewish people. Let me show you something Jesus said in John16...

"I have told you these things so that you won't abandon your faith. For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God. This is because they have never known the Father or me. Yes, I'm telling you these things now, so that when they happen, you will remember my warning."

Look what Jesus is saying. He's talking about Religious people who think they're doing God a favor by killing and mistreating others. Jesus says you don't know Him if you do that.

To answer your first question, "What does the truth say about me and the path I must take to go to heaven."

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, and whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life."
(I know you've heard this a million times before- but think with your heart:))

The Apostle Paul tells us how to be saved...

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Jesus told us He is coming back. All of the prophecies in the old Testament came to pass(except for the second coming of Christ). You as a Jew, know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Lori it sound's like you put alot of thought into this, but that's from a Christian perspective.Did you consider reading the real book, the first books and understanding scripture in the context of "Gods chosen people" that wrote it? This is really "my peoples book" most of the old testament that is and it was copied by the scribes of my people...it has been adopted by "Christians" but the translations and the context and meanings has been passed down and adopted as your experience, your truth....not my truth nor my peoples experience .....instead of looking at scripture objectively...Non seminary trained Christians tend to look at things with an Eisegesis slant. In other words looking at their message they want to deliver ,as a preacher and then supporting that message by proving it with scripture and presenting it as truth.

Instead of looking at the text objectively and drawing meaning from the text...which is called the Exegesis meaning.
Scriptures should be studied based on text alone in an objective manner or an Exegesis way...please answer my question in a Exegesis way...

How do I get the heaven?

I ask this question as your neighbor and I ask this question in Love...

Hi Anonymous,

I know you ask in love, and I will answer you in love...

The answer is simply to ask God to reveal the way. Then keep your eyes and ears open to people, music, what you read, circumstances, etc. Because God promises He will guide you as you sincerely seek Him. He will find a way to get the answer through. I know, because it has happened to me. That's my answer.

One thing I want to add, is of course Jewish and Christian people don't agree. Because Christians look at scripture in the view of our Savior Jesus. All the prophecies about the Messiah point to Jesus. I love you, but I will not debate.

Jewish, Gentile, Agnostic, Atheist - none of this matters. Jesus died for everyone. His gift of eternal life is free of charge to anyone who wants it. The point of this post is that there is only one way into heaven, and that is through Jesus Christ. Period.
